Jim Jowers
Dr.
Jim Jowers is a native of Lexington Tennessee and a graduate
of UT Martin. He Is also a twenty six year Navy combat
veteran. His wary career includes service as a U S Army
combat engineer, Marine Corps jet helicopter pilot, and a
Navy combat search and rescue pilot.
He is a cancer survivor, a retired naval aviator, clinical
psychologist, and biomedical scientist. He has a doctorate
in Clinical Psychology from United States International
University. He lives in Florida with his wife Dr. Catherine
Jowers, where he is working on his next novel.
Ask God & Be Amazed: This is a dramatic true
memoir story of a combat Navy veteran who was exposed to the
Agent Orange herbicide while flying 212 combat missions in
Vietnam and developed Multiple Myeloma cancer. He survived
bone marrow transplant operation at the UAB hospital in
Birmingham, Alabama in February 2003, and has continued to
fight the disease over the past six years. This book is
filled with his personal experiences of pain and suffering
from the bone cancer along with flashbacks to his pilots and
air crewmen, who also developed various cancers and died
from being exposed to Agent Orange. These pilots and air
crewmen served in Helicopter Combat Search and Rescue
Squadron HC-7. Known as the Sea Devils, these daring pilots
flew into both North and South Vietnam to rescue downed
pilots. HC-7 was one the most decorated Navy squadrons who
were awarded all medals from the Good Conduct to the
Congressional Medal of Honor.
Kill the Whistleblower: This is the story of
his work on the Tomahawk Cruise Missile while working for
General Dynamics at San Diego California. A fiction
work where Sheriff Jack Curtin (from Lexington, TN) flies
to San Diego to avenge the murder of his brother by the
Mexican Mafia.
The Gideon Warriors: Another helicopter
combat rescue novel, where Captain Tom Colby takes a Group
of Gideon Warrior combat helicopter pilots to raid the POW
camp at Son Tay. Tom's old CIA nemesis attempts
to compromise the mission (as a double Russia agent), by
peddling plans of the mission to Russians.
The Sea Devils: This is the story of
his four tours to Vietnam from 1965 to 1969, Flying combat SAR
(search and rescue) in the H-2 and H-3 helicopters.
My squadron rescued 159 pilots that had been shot down in
combat.
