Blue Angels With Dirty Faces
by Ron Beeler, former Blue Angels Special Flight
Crewman, puts into focus the roles and relationships
between the pilots and crews of the world famous Navy
Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels.
Merely through a stroke of good fortune, Ron is likely
the youngest member ever to be assigned to and accepted
into the selective Blue Angels Flight Demonstration
Team. Once on the team, he meets famous World War II
Aces and "old salts" of the straight-deck aircraft
carrier who teach him that perfect maintenance is the
only kind of maintenance tolerated within the U.S. Navy
and the Blue Angels. Beeler rejoined the team in 1963
for a second exciting tour of duty and the first
European Tour by the Blue Angels.
Beeler's book is generously sprinkled with humor,
excitement, and little known facts about the Blue Angels
in their early days. As an enlisted man, he tells
stories of the Blues from a brand new perspective. His
characterizations of this elite group of aviators reveal
a view of the Blues not seen before.
Blue Angels With Dirty Faces
was released in conjunction with the Blue Angels' 60th
Anniversary Celebration and Airshow in November 2006.
